The most important step in construction

One of the single most important steps in renovation/building is...well PREP!
Think about it like this...when your preparing for a long trip you make sure your home is secure, kids used the bathroom, you had enough rest, and you mapped out how to to get to your destination. Any one of those steps being over looked could lead to disaster! The same goes for the constructions field. Overlooking things being in the correct spot, out of square/level/plumb could reek havoc on a project. It will simply make the job worse for the next guy or even worse the investor/ home owner. Also a properly prepped and clean workspace will make the job go along a lot smoother. BUT prep is a very broad subject. It includes estimating, demo, rough carpentry , cleaning, organization, timeliness etc etc so the best thing to do is try to go over the projects scope 57 times (exaggerating) and try to think of thinks you may encounter. That's another thing all in its own...anticipating mishaps and/or underlying issues (but were not talking about that). A key note in prep...WRITE IT DOWN!!! if you write it down you will be sure you covered it and its not left up to your memory!
